Bird Strike Emergency Landing of Jetblue Flight JBU757 at JFK Airport bound for Aruba
Emergency Landing forced by apparent bird strike today at John F. Kennedy International Airport, JFK. JetBlue flight JBU757, An Airbus A320, bound for Queen Beatrix International Airport in Aruba( AUA), turned back for JFK shortly after takeoff. Approximately 109 people aboard, 104 passengers and 5 crew. No injuries were reported. The passengers were placed on another aircraft and have already departed JFK for Aruba.
JFK airport was the location of another more famous bird strike, later known as the “Miracle on the Hudson”. In January of 2009 Captain Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger made a forced emergency landing of an US Airways A320, just departed JFK, into the Hudson River. In that incident both engines were disabled requiring a full power off glide. All passengers were safe.
